Just in case the ongoing saga of Toronto mayor Rob Ford was not enough of a trainwreck, Charlie Sheen has now waded in to the scandal.

It began with the fake-news site The Daily Currant, which posted a meant-to-be-satirical story titled “Charlie Sheen Calls for Rob Ford’s Resignation.”

“This guy needs help,” fake-Sheen says in the story. “I’m not saying he needs counseling or AA or rehab or anything like that. Everyone gets better in different ways. But yeah I think he should at least resign and figure out what kind of help is right for him. It’s one thing if you’re an actor, but public servants should be held to a higher standard.”

The story made the rounds on the Internet, fooling a few sites who mistook it for a news story. When real-Sheen got wind of it, he was outraged, calling it “repulsive” and tweeted an offer of his “steady hand and compassionate heart” to Ford.

Here’s the full Sheen Tweet (exceeding 140 characters) in question:

dear Mayor Rob Ford,
the only truth or correct reporting in today’s
repulsive story regarding
my alleged comments about you,
is the accurate spelling of your great city.
your personal life is and never would be,
any of my business.
I’m sorry for any grief this may have caused.
if I can be of any assistance
in any capacity in this
media cesspool,
please accept the noble offer of my steady
hand and compassionate heart.
respectfully,
charlie sheen.

Sheen, of course, has admitted to having smoked crack in the past. He has this in common with Ford, who last week admitted to having smoked crack last year in a “drunken stupor.” On Wednesday, a slew of court documents were released detailing additional allegations by Ford staffers about the mayor’s behavior, including alleged incidents of drunk driving and drug use, along with possible use of prostitutes.

Ford, in response, refuted the allegations, and made additional headlines on Thursday when he rather inappropriately addressed one particular claim. “Oh, and the last thing was Olivia Gondek. It says that I wanted to eat her p****. I’ve never said that in my life to her; I would never do that. I’m happily married, I’ve got more than enough to eat at home. Thanks very much,” he said.

He later apologized. “I used unforgivable language and again I apologize,” Ford said in a press conference, CTV reported.

Though he added that he’s receiving support “from a team of health care professionals,” Ford still has not agreed to resign. So Charlie Sheen has his work cut out for him.
